Sunday Silliness

After sitting through 2 hours of Stake Conference, we all needed to un-wind a little.

And More Mitchell

More Mitchell

I just can't get enough of this baby. Mitchell now is really good at grabbing things, and is convinced that people food is the most interesting thing in the world. He also has successfully rolled from back to front many times, but he complains mightily each time he discovers himself face-down.

Marcus Turns 7! March 16, 2007

Marcus had a dinosaur birthday party (again) with several of the kids from the neighborhood. His cake was an erupting volcano (thanks, Kendra, for the info on how to do that) and he got to arrange the plastic dinosaurs on it. Marcus was VERY excited for this birthday. Every time he's prayed for the last two weeks, he's prayed that "my birthday will be great, that I'll like all my presents, and that Mom will be able to get everything ready for my party." I think we can say that his prayers were answered.

Early Spring!

We've had gorgeous weather the last several days (we had record warmth on St. Patrick's Day) and it's been great to be outside. Caleb took advantage of one afternoon to get in some great bike-riding time.

More from the Aviary

Marcus thought this place was great because you went in a little house where the birds could fly right around you. I thought Mitchell would fall asleep in the stroller, but I think there was just too much for him to see.

Tracy Aviary 3-9-07

Liz and Drake went with us to the Humanitarian Center, and then we took the boys to the Tracy Aviary at Liberty Park. It was a really nice, Spring-ish day, and the boys loved being out and being able to run around. They were so excited that it was hard to get them to stand still for pictures. These pictures show the Andean Condor, a peacock, a bird whose name I can't remember, but it looked like it had a rock on it's head, and the crazy flamingos.

School Kits

3-9-07: For our Christmas service project (yes, I'm aware Christmas was nearly 3 months ago), we collected supplies and materials, and made/assembled 20 school kits to donate to the LDS Church's Humanitarian efforts. These bags most often go to children in places where kids couldn't attend school if they didn't have these materials. On Friday, we took the bags to the Humanitarian Center in Salt Lake, and toured the facility. It ended up being a really neat experience for me, and I hope it's one the boys will remember also.

5-Month-Old Mitchell (March 2007)

As you can tell from these pictures, Mitchell does really well in his exersaucer. He's also gotten pretty good at playing with toys, although at church today, none of the bright, infant-approved toys I'd brought from home were nearly as cool as the paper I got in Relief Society (which he managed to crumple, soften, and shred very quickly). Pretty much, Mitchell is a very happy kid as long as he has someone paying him attention. He's already learned that the best way to get picked up is just to smile really big, get very excited, and stick his arms out whenever we walk by. How can a parent resist?

Marcus and Mitchell

3-07: Marcus is very determined (and a little intense) in playing with Mitchell. Luckily, Mitchell is big enough now that he can often appreciate his older brother's incredible energy. (Now if I could just bottle some of that energy for me to use, or for me to give back to Marcus when it's his turn to do the dishes, that would be perfect.)

Handstands

3-5-07: For the last week or so, Sheridan and Marcus have been attempting handstands whenever and wherever sufficient floor space could be found (Marcus even managed to do several during the course of our tour of the LDS Humanitarian Center). The result is that I've gone a little batty, and they've actually gotten pretty good at it. This evening, it took many many tries to sync up the camera with the moment the legs were actually in the air. Since then, both Sheridan and Marcus have gotten much better. (Note Marcus with the Michael Jordan tongue-action. Oh, and this is his idea of a coordinated outfit, and there's no convincing him otherwise,)

"Jack the Mapper"

3-3-07: Caleb recently invented a game that he plays with his dad whenever Guy is available. Caleb is Jack the Mapper (or the Mapping Man) and he carries a map and other interesting things (toy cell phone, stuffed animals, canned goods, a spiky ball, to name a few) around in his backpack. Guy's character is called Far, Far Away, which is also the name of the game. I have a name too--I think it's Chomp. . .hmm.
